The Acting Governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has said that the creation of 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) recently announced by the State Government was aimed at bringing development closer to the people of the state.

Aiyedatiwa made the clarifications today when the leadership of the Ondo State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Akure, the state capital

The Acting Governor further explained that the system of Local Government according to the 1999 constitution stipulates that the government of every state shall adopt section 8 of the Constitution which provides for the establishment, structure, composition, finance and functions of local councils Development Areas.

“Let me say here that the major task of Local Government is development at the grassroot and it is imperative for local government leaders to strive towards a culture of service and the practice of excellence”, he noted.

Earlier, the IPAC Chairman, Mr Adesanya Olaoluwa commended the state government on security and infrastructural development.
