LAUTECH debunks rumour of calling off strike

The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso has discredited reports that it called off the strike embarked on by the Academic Union of Universities (ASUU).

Reports had said the varsity announced the resumption on August 16 in a circular signed by the registrar of the university, Dr. Kayode Ogunleye, titled: “Release to Staff and Students: Continuation of the First Semester of the 2021/2022 Academic Session”.

According to the reports, LAUTECH called off the strike and announced the commencement of academic activities for the 2021/2022 academic session from Thursday, August 18, 2022.

The reports quoted the registrar as saying, “Upon the directive of the Visitor to the university, the management, hereby, informs all staff and students that the university will continue its academic activities for the first semester of the 2021/2022 academic session on Thursday, August 18, 2022.

“On behalf of the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. M. 0. Liasu, I welcome all students back to the campus and wish them a crisis-free semester.”

However, a statement by the spokesman for LAUTECH, Lekan Fadeyi, on Tuesday, urged members of the public, especially parents, staff and students to allow the leadership of the University conclude the ongoing efforts at resolving issues such as the strike militating against the resumption of academic activities after which authentic information will be issued.
