The Citizens and The Reds are locked in a fierce battle for the Premier League trophy, a rivalry they built in recent seasons.

They meet at the Etihad Stadium next Sunday in a title showdown that has great consequences for the title aspirations of both teams.

Liverpool sat 14 points adrift of the league leaders, Man City at one stage this season, with fans and pundits labelling The Citizens as the undisputed title winner and writing off The Reds.

However, after the Merseyside club went on a nine straight winning run, they have now cut the deficit between the two clubs to just a point.

Apart from building a gap between themselves and Chelsea in 3rd, their free-flowing attacking football have made them the division’s top two scorers.

But according to The Guardian, Spanish centre-back Aymeric Laporte, while speaking on the title race, claimed they are not afraid of anyone in the league and added that Liverpool would love to replicate even a part of City’s game.

“City can’t be afraid of anyone,” the 27-year-old said.

“Something like this happened a few years ago: [Liverpool] were a point behind in the same week, and in the end, we won the league. We have this fight now and that’s good for the fans and neutrals.

“The football we play, no one else plays in the world. We’re an example of how to play nice football, to be superior in all areas.

“I think they’d like even part of our game. As for us having something of them: taking chances and benefiting from opponents’ errors a little more, because often we have the opportunity and don’t take it.

“We let the other team off. But there’s nothing to be envious about.”

City and Liverpool return to action this weekend after the international break and The Reds can move ahead of Guardiola’s men with a win over Watford before they take on Burnley later.

While Man City can still win a treble, Jurgen Klopp and his men are eyeing a quadruple after their Carabao Cup success in February. The duo also have an outside chance of meeting in the Champions League final.
