Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced that victims of the Ikoyi building collapse will be mourned for three days.
The Ikoyi building collapse killed 32 people as of Thursday, November 4, with search and rescue efforts still ongoing.
The Lagos governor also ordered that flags in public and private buildings are to be flown at half-mast while all official engagements are cancelled during the three days.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the state government expressed its condolences to families of the deceased.
The governor had visited the site of the incident earlier in the day after inaugurating a Six-man panel of enquiry into the cause of the incident.
At the site, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended first responders and other rescue workers and promised to do all he can to unravel the mystery behind the collapse.
The Lagos building collapsed on November 1, in the highbrow area of Ikoyi, killing some artisans who were working at the site. The developer of the building, Femi Osibona, is also feared killed in the 21-storey building.
The building, still under construction, caved in on Monday afternoon along Gerrard Road, Ikoyi.
Possible causes of the collapse and the number of persons feared trapped are yet to be ascertained, but the Lagos State government has announced that 32 persons have been confirmed dead.
