State Police Command Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed that Mowari is in custody and investigation of the case underway.

“There was an argument between the two, which led to the suspect stabbing the victim with scissors. He later died in the hospital.

“The suspect is in our custody, and the case will be charged in court after investigations are concluded,” Ayanlade said.

The PUNCH quoted another source as recounting that the couple cohabited in a one-room apartment with persistent disagreements over trust and suspected cheating that later escalated into violence.

The source narrated: “That was not the first time they would engage in a heated confrontation. This last one, Augustina accused Micheal of cheating on her with another woman.

“Within seconds, there was a shouting match between the two and it resulted in a fight. It was in the process that she brought out a pair of scissors and stabbed him in the leg. They were both living together.

“Michael was initially taken to a nearby hospital, where he received treatment and was discharged after being administered injections and prescribed medication.

“After being discharged, his condition deteriorated at home. His leg became swollen, and he was rushed back to the hospital on Sunday night. Unfortunately, he passed away despite the doctors’ efforts to save him.”
