Lady arraigned for allegedly stabbing boyfriend, granted N200k bail

A certain lady, Abigail Victor, aged 23, has been arraigned by the police at a Kaduna Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend during an argument about his alleged cheating with another woman.
Abigail, who lives in Ungwan Sunday in Kaduna, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy against and causing bodily harm to Dominic James.
Police prosecutor Chidi Leo told the court that the attack occurred on May 17 at Sabon Tasha, Kaduna following a misunderstanding with Dominic whom she accused him of cheating.
“In anger, she reportedly called two friends who joined her at the complainant’s residence, where they allegedly beat him and stabbed him in the shoulder with a knife,” Leo said.
He added that neighbours intervened and rushed Dominic to the hospital for treatment.
According to him, the offences are contrary to Sections 58 and 284 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017; and Section 58 provides for a one-year prison sentence on conviction for conspiracy, while Section 284 carries a minimum of five years imprisonment for causing injury.
Abigail pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel granted her bail in the sum of N200,000, with one surety in like sum.
The court ordered that the surety must be a blood relative of the accused and present evidence of three years’ tax clearance from the Kaduna Government.
The case was adjourned until June 17 for a hearing.
