Cameroon captain, Vincent Aboubakar believes Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe, is a better player when compared with Liverpool forward and Egypt captain Mohamed Salah.

Salah who scored two and set up another in five matches in Egypts’ run to the final of 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has enjoyed a prolific campaign at club level, scoring  23 goals in 26 games for Liverpool this season

In contrast, French striker Kylian Mbappe scored 19 goals in 29 matches for Paris Saint-Germain, but despite this, Aboubakar says the 22-year-old French player is better than the Egyptian.

He made the assertion while speaking to RFI ahead of Thursday’s meeting between Cameroon and Egypt, which Egypt won on penalties.

Aboubakar, who admitted Salah is a good player, insisted that the 29-year-old striker is not on the same level as Mbappe, as he is yet to impress him.

He said, “He is having a great season in the Premier League and is helping his country to advance in the competition. I wish him a lot of luck. May the best win.

“He doesn’t impress me much. I say it clearly because I’m an honest person and I have my way of seeing things.

“If he impressed me, I would say so. But he doesn’t impress me much. He’s a good player, he scores a lot but he doesn’t produce a lot of stuff in the game.

“Of course, he’s doing good stuff in the Premier League because he’s been in a team that’s been there for years. He’s a good player but not at the level of someone like Mbappe.”

Salah trails Aboubakar in the race to be crowned as the  2021 AFCON top scorer, the Cameroon skipper is leading the charts with 6 goals while the Egypt captain has just two goals in the competition.

Asked about his flourishing partnership with Toko Ekambi, who is right behind him in the goalscorers chart with 5 goals.  Aboubakar said:

“We are complementary to each other, but the most important thing is for the team to win.

“If me, Karl or any other player manages to score and Cameroon win, that’s the most important thing. We must raise Cameroon to the top in this competition.”
