Kwara salutes Faith Olabisi, child prodigy who credits her lecturers and mother with helpful backup

Faith Aduragbemi Olabisi, a student of accounting at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has become a chartered accountant at just 18, after clearing her  Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) examination to fulfil a long-held dream.

Olabisi passed the November 2024 ICAN professional examination, a prerequisite for the accolade of being Nigeria’s known youngest chartered accountant.

She expressed her gratitude in an interview with UNILORIN Bulletin where she attributed her success to the support and encouragement of her lecturers and  mother whose guidance played a pivotal role in her accomplishment.

UNILORIN Vice Chancellor said he was not surprised when he learned about the feat as the institution always produces excellent minds.

Elated Kwara Governor personally reaches out to Olabisi

Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq personally reached out to congratulate Olabisi, acknowledging her exceptional performance as an inspiration for other students in the state.

He also commended her in a statement he issued through his Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye, saying her achievement is the triumph of hard work, determination, equal opportunities, and equitable access to education.

AbdulRazaq urged the young lady to remain steadfast and strong as she pursues a career in the field of accountancy.

He applauded her parents and community for the opportunity and encouragement that saw her through years of rigorous and consistent study, and wished her many more years of outstanding success and contributions to national development as a chartered accountant.

UNILORIN felicitates with standout teenage achiever

UNILORIN acting Head of Accounting Department Segun Abogun commended Olabisi’s extraordinary achievement, describing it as a source of pride for the department.

He disclosed that several other students from the department also excelled in the ICAN professional examination and encouraged them to continue setting examples for their peers.

UNILORIN Vice Chancellor Wahab Egbewole, a professor, also praised Olabisi for her outstanding accomplishment in a statement released by the schools’ Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun

Egbewole noted that UNILORIN consistently produces trailblazing professionals among its students, staff, and alumni.

“This remarkable achievement underscores the quality education and enabling environment that the University of Ilorin provides, which has made it the nation’s most sought-after institution,” he said.

He urged Olabisi to remain committed to her studies and to continue serving as a role model in both learning and character.
