Kwara completes 384km roads in 6 years

Kwara State Government has in the last six years completed work of road projects of 384 kilometres.

The state commissioner for works, Abdulqowiyy Olododo, who stated this also explained that other road projects of several kilometres are either in progress or have just been approved.

Olododo, while speaking at the quarterly ministerial press briefing in Ilorin, said that the completed roads cut across the three senatorial districts of the state in line with the plan of the goverment to make every part accessible to motorable road.

He said that for the period under review which is April to September of this year, 76.5 kilometres of road was completed with some of the roads being constructed and some others rehabilitated and upgraded.

He mentioned the road to include Saadu Alanamu, Unity/Post office, Ahaman Pategi, Post office/Isale-Oja and Isale-Oja/Omoda roads in Ilorin metropolis, and Ajase-Ipo/Oke-Iyapo, Arandun-Esie road in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

Also speaking, the commissioner for finance, Hauwa Nuhu, disclosed that the state government was able to take in the sum of N15.7billion from the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) source for the third quarter of 2025.

Nuhu said the goverNment is committed to boosting the IGR without creating extra burden on the residents on tax payment.

She explained that the government was not introducing a new tax in January next year but only streamlining the existing taxes as required by the law.

The commissioner said the goverment has sustained the feats of not owing any worker salary and making promotion as and when due.

She said that the government remained committed to welfare of the workers in the state.

The commissioner said the domestic debt of the state is N57.3billion, explaining that N22billion of it is outstanding gratuity for the state pensioners.
