New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso has promised to replicate his success as Kano Governor across the country if elected on 25 February.

He made the pledge in Abuja at the second presidential townhall organised by the department of political science of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA).

He lamented the serious crisis in education, from primary to tertiary levels, which he said were caused by the current All Progressive Congress (APC) government and that of the Peoples Democratic Party before it, both of which have failed Nigerians.

“I am very happy that Nigerians have an alternative to the failure of All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party,” Kwankwaso declared.

“In our manifesto, we said once you pass JAMB, it will stay for four years. You don’t need to go and sit for that examination again because we believe government must take responsibility to ensure that sons and daughters of the poor are all given equal opportunities to go to university.

“So, our own belief is education, education and education.”

UNIABUJA Vice Chancellor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, a Professor, implored all  presidential candidates to come and speak to Nigerians at the townhall on why they want to rule the country.

He said despite its abundant mineral resources, Nigeria is still battling with irregular electricity and a poor healthcare system while roads are death traps, per The PUNCH.

NNPP successful in North, now focuses on South, says Kwankwaso

Kwankwaso has previously cited the rich and the privileged as Nigeria’s biggest problem stoking corruption, tribalism, treasury looting, lawlessness, and other vices besetting the country.

“Forget about the big people, who are actually the problem of our country .…

“With supporters at the grassroots level, we are the only party today and we’ve succeeded … in Northern Nigeria today in terms of votes and support. Now we are working in the Southern part of the country,” he said at Chatham House, London.

Kwankwaso has also hit back at Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi for asking him to withdraw from the race.

“For us, the difference between the North and the South is that the North is more than the Southern part of the country.

“If you’re from the North I’m sure you wouldn’t have made that statement for Kwankwaso to withdraw for the Labour Party. You should go and look at my credentials, my brother,” he said.
