Koladaisi University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adeniyi Olatunbosun is expected to be the Chief Host of the event

The second Annual Guest Lecture of the
Department of Political Science and International Relations of KolaDaisi University, Ibadan, Oyo State will hold on Wednesday, April 3, at the Sherifat Agbeke Auditorium.
The lecture themed: ‘“Forecasting a New Global Architecture: The Outlines of a Polycentric Power Configuration” will be delivered by Prof. William Alade Fawole of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU)..
This was made known in a statement made available to TheNiche on Sunday by the Head of Department, Political Science and International Relations of the institution, Dr Adebukola Ayoola.
According to her, “the lecture will examine the fast-paced changes in the international system and alterations as a result of, among others, the rise of more states into great power status on the one hand, and the increasing prominence of non-state actors that are affecting global affairs for good or ill, on the other.”
She went on to say the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Adeniyi Olatunbosun (SAN) will be the Chief Host of the Day.

The statement reads: “The Department of Political Science and International Relations of KolaDaisi University, Ibadan annual guest lecture comes up on Wednesday April 3rd. 2024 at Sherifat Agbeke Auditorium by 12 noon.
“The lecture will be delivered by Prof. William Alade Fawole, a guest lecturer and a seasoned Professor of International Relations.
“He attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1974 – 1978 for his B.Sc, in Political Science; the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, 1981 – 1983 for the Master of Science (M.Sc) in International Relations; The George Washington University, Washington D.C. USA from 1985 – 1990 for his Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) and Doctor of Philosophy respectively in Political Science, specializing in International Relations.”
“He joined the academic staff of the University of Ife as Assistant Lecturer in October 1983 and became full Professor of International Relations in October 2003. During his career as a lecturer, he has served the University in various capacities: Secretary of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) from 1995 to 2000; Head, Department of International Relations, 2006-2008; Member of Senate, 2003 till date; Dean, Faculty of Administration, 2008-2010; member, Governing Council, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, 2003-2007; Chairman, Standing Committee of Congregation, 2003-2007; Chairman, Joint Council-Senate Panel on the Review and Harmonization of Statutory Committees in the University; etc
“Outside the Obafemi Awolowo University, he has served as Visiting Lecturer, University of Ibadan 1998-1999; Visiting Professor, Osun State University, Okuku Campus 2010-2011; Visiting Professor at Bowen University, Iwo, 2018-2019; Visiting Research Fellow, African Studies Centre, and University of Leiden, Netherlands, 2000; National Defence College, Abuja; National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos; National Institute for Security, Abuja; External Examiner and External Assessor at the Universities of Ibadan, Lagos, Jos, Benin, Ado-Ekiti, Akungba-Akoko, Bowen, the University of Ghana, Legon, Accra, and the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD), Legon, Accra, University of Sierral Leone, Freetown; Resource Person and Editor, Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA), Dakar, Senegal. He was Member of the Governing Board, Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Badagry, 2008-2010.”
Ayoola added: “Professor Fawole has attended and delivered scholarly papers at numerous academic conferences, seminars and workshops across Nigeria, and in several countries in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. He has authored, edited and published four major textbooks, three research monographs, co-edited six books; more than 70 journal articles and book chapters at home and abroad. An activist and public intellectual, he has served at different times as columnist for The Westerner, Nigerian Tribune, and freelance contributor to The Guardian, Tempo, The News, The Sun, Weekly Trust, The Nation, and has over 400 newspaper and magazine articles to his credit.
“The lecture, “Forecasting a New Global Architecture: The Outlines of a Polycentric Power Configuration” examines the fast-paced changes in the international system and alterations as a result of, among others, the rise of more states into great power status on the one hand, and the increasing prominence of non-state actors that are affecting global affairs for good or ill, on the other. It aims to provide insight on the inevitability of power diffusion going on first between rival nations and continents, and economic blocs that are competing for influence on the one hand, and the challenges being posed to states’ power and influence by the prevalence of non-state actors.
