Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is open to taking over from Julian Nagelsmann as the head coach of the German national team following the latter’s exit.
This was revealed on Thursday by Italian journalist and football expert Fabrizio Romano via a post on his official X page.
Klopp, who is currently the Sporting Director at Red Bull, has not managed a team since leaving Liverpool in the summer of 2024.
Meanwhile, Julian Nagelsmann has stepped down as the head coach of the Germany national team. His departure comes after Germany’s shock last-32 elimination by Paraguay in the World Cup.

The latest loss marked the four-time champions’ third consecutive early exit from the tournament, following group-stage eliminations in Russia and Qatar.
The German Football Federation (DFB) had initially asked Nagelsmann to resign, and the 38-year-old subsequently accepted the request to step down with immediate effect.
Giving an update on the development, Romano claimed that Klopp is willing to take the job if the German FA approaches him.
He added that the 59-year-old is keen on becoming Germany’s new head coach and would listen to the “project”.
Taking to his verified handle, Romano wrote: “Jürgen Klopp would be open to considering return to management if German Federation decide to call him.
“Nagelsmann wants to stay but final decision in DFB hands, Klopp would be open to listening and keen on project.”
