Efforts by the suspected kidnap kingpin Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike a.k.a. Evans, to quash the charge brought against him by the Lagos State Government was futile as Justice Adedayo Akintoye of High Court of Lagos Igbosere on Tuesday threw out his application.

In her ruling on the application filed by Evans seeking to quash the multiple charges brought against him, Justice Akintoye held that the charge initiated against the defendant/applicant did not in any way go against the rule of duplicity as contained in the Nigerian law.

Concluding the ruling, the judge declared that the sapplication is lacking in merit.

It would be recalled that Evans, who is currently facing trial on different charges in three different courts of High Court of Lagos State is also before Justice Akintoye on a fresh five counts bordering on conspiracy to kidnap, kidnapping and attempted murder. He had, on May 25, brought an application before the court seeking to quash all the charges filed against him.

He contended that all the charges were “grossly defective, repetitive and an abuse of court processes.”
