Kenneth Okonkwo appointed spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar
Veteran Nollywood actor and activist Kenneth Okonkwo has been officially appointed as the spokesperson for the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2027 election, Atiku Abubakar.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Okonkwo expressed gratitude to Atiku Abubakar for the appointment, describing it as a mark of confidence and a reflection of the former Vice President’s strong democratic credentials.
“I give God all the glory to be appointed by His Excellency Atiku Abubakar as his Spokesperson. I thank HE AA for the immense confidence reposed in me,” Okonkwo said.
He praised Atiku’s leadership style, noting that the former Vice President consistently chooses dialogue and compromise over conflict when dealing with associates who express differing views.
“This appointment speaks volume of the democratic credentials of HE AA. Rather than pick offence against any of his associates for expressing genuine reservations of any action taken, HE AA always opts for dialogue and compromise that will engender solution to problems,” he added.
Okonkwo revealed that during a recent dialogue with Atiku Abubakar and other leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the interests of the South-East geopolitical zone were thoroughly discussed and guaranteed.
He extended special appreciation to key figures who played roles in the process, including: Dr. Kashim Ibrahim Imam, for his intervention and counsel that underscored the inclusivity of the emerging political arrangement for all Nigerians regardless of ethnicity, religion, or region. Mr. Ralphs Nwosu, former National Chairman of the ADC, for his sacrifices in strengthening the party. Dr. Ekene Onwuka, SSA to Atiku Abubakar on Special Duties, for building a strong team ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
