Bayern Munich forward, Harry Kane, has broken a UEFA Champions League (UCL) record set by his compatriot, David Beckham, after netting a brace on Wednesday night against Chelsea.

The 32-year-old scored a penalty in the 27th minute before beating the goalkeeper again in the 63rd minute as Bayern defeated the Blues 3-1 at the Allianz Arena.

His second half goal against the west London club took his tally of goal contributions in the Champions League to 53 (42 goals and 11 assists), a record for an English player in the history of the competition.

Beckham had held the record with his 52 goal contributions during his career as a professional footballer while playing for the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Kane, with the two goals against Chelsea has now surpassed Beckham, who retired from professional football in 2013.

Kane after the feat, will be looking forward to replicating a similar performance when Bayern Munich take on Hoffenheim on Saturday in a Bundesliga fixture.
