United States Vice President, Kamala Harris has disclosed that she has secured the support of enough Democratic delegates to become her party’s nominee.
According to the Guardian, she is now looking forward to formally accepting Democratic Party’s nomination as their candidate for the November presidential election.
This development means it took just 32 hours from Biden’s announcement that he would step aside for Kamala to secure support from enough delegates.
While assuring her supporters that she has secured the needed delegates to become her party’s nominee, the former US senator also seized the opportunity to make her case against a second Donald Trump’s presidency.

Speaking to her supporters, she said,
“Tonight, I am proud to have secured the broad support needed to become our party’s nominee, and as a daughter of California, I am proud that my home state’s delegation helped put our campaign over the top..
“Donald Trump wants to take our country back to a time before many of us had full freedoms and equal rights.
“I believe in a future that strengthens our democracy, protects reproductive freedom and ensures every person has the opportunity to not just get by, but to get ahead.”
Kamala Harris was recently endorsed by President Joe Biden, who withdrew from the 2024 presidential race after coming under intense pressure from Democratic Party leaders.
Taking to his official X page, Biden tweeted, “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year.”
