The lawmaker representing Kaduna Central in the Senate, Shehu Sani, has alleged that chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were behind the strings of attacks against a former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, on some radio stations in Kaduna.
Tinubu has come under intense criticisms by known APC chieftains in Kaduna State following reports that he wanted two of his allies – Ahmed Lawan to become Senate President, and Femi Gbajabiamila to emerge as speaker of the House of Representatives.
Shehu Sani in a tweet said: “Some people are strategically being sponsored to attack and malign the Asiwaju in the Hausa language in Hausa Radio in Kaduna and environs.
“This certainly couldn’t have come from the opposition knowing the background of the kind of people being used. Some wars begin with a sniper,” he said.
While Sani did not give further details of those behind the media war against Tinubu, TheNiche has tracked some of the radio programmes where the personality of Tinubu was being maligned and the people behind it.
For instance, a known ally of Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, who was also head of Daso, the propaganda wing of the APC campaign during the election, Abdulmajid Dan Bilki Commander, was on a Hausa politics programme of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) recently where he accused Tinubu of imposing his wishes on the party despite contributing little to the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Other coordinated criticisms against Tinubu have also taken place in the state-owned radio, KSMC and other ally radio stations of the government.
The objective of the attacks appears to present Tinubu as a man who wants to grab power by planting his minions in key sensitive positions inimical to the interest of the country.
