People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Jerry Gana, has said Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will defeat any opponent he runs against in the North if he returns to the main opposition party.
Gana, who is one of the founding members of the PDP, made this known on Wednesday night while answering questions on Arise TV’s Prime Time.
His comments come amid speculations that the former Anambra governor might return to the PDP, despite joining other prominent opposition leaders to adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a platform to unseat President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) in 2027.
Obi came third when he ran for presidency under the umbrella of LP in the 2023 polls.
However, Gana believes Obi’s best bet of becoming president is to run under the PDP in the next general elections.

He also assured Nigerians that the North is willing to wait till 2031 before vying for the presidency again.
Speaking during the interview he said: “I’m a researcher, and I research opinions.
“In the northern states, Peter Obi under the PDP will defeat any candidate, because our people are very fair-minded.
“In 2031, it will be the turn of the North.
“Our people are very fair and we are building a nation.”
