JAMB candidates thank God as resit upturns under-200 marks to above 300 and depressing failure to surprise pass

Desperate wannabe JAMBites (100 Level students) on university campuses in September are surprised but jubilant that their anguish at having to rewrite the Unified Matriculation Examination (UTME) turned their initial fail to pass after the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) fixed the glitches that marred the first exercise.
Some took to X (Twitter) to share their new scores in the UTME retaken by about 379,000 candidates as directed by JAMB after widespread public outcry over mass failure in the initial UTME the regulator attributed to human and technical glitches that affected Lagos and South East candidates.
“From 151 to 307. God is awesome,” Dumem #DubemSylvia wrote on X.
A teacher posted: “My student that was given 146 now scored 332!”
JAMB had claimed that over 1.5 million out of the 1.9 million candidates who sat for the initial 2025 UTME scored below 200 marks out of a possible 400.
After stakeholders expressed widespread concern, JAMB admitted to technical and human errors that negatively affected candidates’ performance.
