Popular Afrobeats singer, Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, simply known as Iyanya, has sent tongues wagging on the internet after claiming women cheat more than men.

The ‘Sexy Mama’ crooner made the controversial claim while featuring as a guest on the latest episode of Doyin’s Corner podcast hosted by reality star, Doyinsola Anuoluwapo David.

According to him, most of his friends decided to remain single because their estranged girlfriends cheated on them and they were “hurt terribly.”

It all began when the podcast host, Doyin asked: “Men or women who cheat more?”

Responding, Iyanya said: “Women! It’s old gist. There is a popular song by an American rapper, I’m sure you know that song: ‘Girls cheat too. Girls bad too.’ Something like that. It has millions of views and that’s proof that women cheat more.

“Speaking for myself and also holding it down for my guys, my single friends. 99 per cent of them are single. The reason why they are single and not even ready to date is because one or two girls they loved and focused on hurt them terribly.”

The singer went on to say he can’t cheat on his partner because he is “focused” when he is in love. He, however, added that he can’t forgive a cheating partner.

After the podcast made the rounds on social media, opinions were divided among men and women as most netizens who took to the comment section were gender biased.

While most women disagreed with Iyanya and insisted men cheat more, majority of the men who commented  backed the singer.
