Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Princess Mojisola Meranda, has denied reports suggesting that she has resigned from her position, affirming that she remains the Speaker and is actively carrying out her duties.
Speaking through her Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, on Wednesday, Meranda dismissed the rumour as baseless.
“I’m in the office. The speaker is in the office. I don’t know where that is coming from,” Ajiboye stated.

He further described the reports as “a lie from the pit of hell,” emphasising that there is no truth to the speculation.
“I am doing my work as the CPS, the Speaker is her office as we speak and everybody is doing about his or her business. We do not know where the story is coming from. The Speaker has not resigned and there is no plan for that,” he added.
The rumours were fueled by a circular dated February 17, 2025, which allegedly announced Meranda’s resignation. However, checks on the document circulating on social media revealed that it was unsigned, raising doubts about its authenticity.
