Inyama challenges Eastern SWAN

Chairman of Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia, Chief Emeka Inyama has challenged sports writers from the Eastern States of the country to strive to bring back the glamour which characterized the zone in the nation’s sports writing arena.

Inyama threw the challenge in his office in Umuahia when he received in audience, members of zone C”, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) who called on him.

He recalled that South East SWAN was so powerful in the past with mouth-watering programmes that it became the envy of other zones in the land and even other associations and urged the SWAN members to ensure they bring back the glory days.

 

The Abia Warriors helmsman, who is also a member of the Nigeria Football Federation and a member, CAF Media Committee, however, expressed happiness that the zone has taken a giant stride towards its resuscitation by coming together to discuss on common fronts.

According to him, a zone that has produced the former National Chairman in Fan Ndubuoke and former National Deputy Chairman, Sunny Ogele as well as other stake holders in the nation’s sports circle should not lack, as long as the right things were done at the right time and pledged the support of Abia Warriors to the association.

 

Earlier, the leader of delegation and Vice Chairman, zone “C” of SWAN Mr. Cajetan Nkwopara said they were in Umuahia to intimate the Abia Warriors Chairman of the new spirit that now rules Eastern SWAN and to commend him and the state Governor for taking sports to a new height in Abia State.

 

Nkwopara said they want to reward the Abia State Governor with a deserving award in order to motivate his colleagues in the South-East to emulate him and give sports a pride of place in their states.

 

He recounted the contributions of Inyama in the nation’s sports circle and urged him to use his good offices to assist the Eastern SWAN regain its pride of place.
