The Police have successfully secured the extraction of Nnanyereugo Benjamin Best, popularly known as Killaboi from Doha in Qatar to Nigeria to face murder charge.

Killaboi, an Instagram celebrity had confessed to murdering his girlfriend, an undergraduate of Lead City University in July 2023 at his Aiah residence after a quarrel.

He locked her body inside his apartment and fled to Sierra Leone.

In the West African country, he was arrested, but escaped during a jailbreak. He then fled to Qatar with a fraudulently obtained Guinean passport.

A statement on Saturday by Muyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer said the police have successfully completed the extradition of Killaboi from Doha, Qatar to Nigeria.

The statement reads: “The fugitive, who had been on the run for the murder of Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, was returned to the country in the early hours of today, Saturday, 19th April 2025, through the coordinated efforts with the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Force Headquarters Abuja and the Qatari Judicial Authorities.

“The extradition followed a petition from the family of the deceased, submitted through their legal representatives dated 29th September 2024. The matter was assigned to INTERPOL NCB Abuja for  investigation. Investigations revealed that the suspect, Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, murdered Miss Onuwabhagbe, a 21-year-old first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan, at his residence located at No. 24A Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos, on 13th July 2023. After committing the crime, he fled Nigeria and later released an online video purporting to confess to the act, a deceptive strategy to derail investigative efforts.

“Following his declaration as wanted by the NPF Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on 13th October 2023, an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for his global apprehension. He was initially arrested in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on 20th October 2023 under the false identity “KANU PRINCETON SAMUEL,” but escaped custody during a prison break on 26th November 2023 in Feeetown.

“Further intelligence gathering revealed that the suspect continued to evade law enforcement, traversing multiple regions including West Africa, East Asia and the Middle East, under forged identities before eventually relocating to Doha, Qatar on 24th January, 2025. Operating under the alias “TOURE ABDOULAYE” with a fraudulent Guinean passport, he secured illegal employment and concealed his identity.

“Through robust international cooperation and the use of advanced biometrics, INTERPOL NCB Abuja, in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Doha, confirmed his identity, leading to his arrest by Qatari authorities in February 2025. An official extradition request, processed via the Federal Ministry of Justice, Abuja, was subsequently approved by the Qatari judicial authorities, resulting in his repatriation to Nigeria.

“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, while recognising  the strength in the synergy amongst nations to curb trans-border crimes, commended the diligence of INTERPOL NCB Abuja and extended sincere appreciation to the Honorable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Government of Qatar, INTERPOL NCB Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar for their invaluable collaboration in securing the fugitive’s return.

“The Inspector-General of Police further assured the general public of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring that the suspect faces diligent prosecution, as part of the NPF’s dedication to justice and the safety of all Nigerians.”

Killaboi’s action was first exposed after detectives from Ajah Police Station received a complaint from his girlfriend’s mother of her inability to reach her.

The detectives arrived his Aiah residence and forced open the door to his apartment located at Oral Estate, Ikota, Ajah.

The mother had earlier received a call from her daughter on July 11, that she had a quarrel with her lover and would be going to his place for them to resolve the issue.

The mother was said to have made efforts to reconcile them but was not able to reach either of them on their phones and had to locate one of her friends who took her to Killaboi’s  residence in Ajah on Saturday, July 15.

On arrival at the residence, it was learnt that the woman saw her daughter’s Mercedes Benz C30 parked outside the house and they knocked several times on the door with no response.

They were said to have gone to the estate’s security post to complain but were asked to go to the Police Station so that the police would come and open the door.

Yielding to the suggestion, Augusta’s mother, it was gathered, went to the police station, filed a complaint and the Divisional Police Officer, DPO led detectives to the apartment to force open the door.

“As soon as the door was opened by the police, the body of the girl was discovered in a pool of her blood with her private part chopped off. The body was fast decomposing and was quickly recovered,” said a police source quoted by The Nation newspaper.

Killaboi then took to his Instagram page to confess to have stabbed Augusta by mistake during an argument, adding that he fled the scene out of fear.

In series of incoherent posts shared on his Instastory, the suspect denied allegations he used his lover for ritual, insisting she was the love of his life and they had been together for two years.

He said those painting the ritual narrative were manipulating the situation, urging those abusing his late lover to stop because she did nothing wrong. According to him, the problem in their relationship was toxicity, adding that they had an issue on July 11 and had agreed to meet the next day to talk it over but things got worse.

He claimed he had been having suicidal thoughts since then and was ready to die, turn himself in to give her family closure.

He wrote: “I got into an argument with my girlfriend @austa_xxo which fight i mistakenly stabbed her and ran away out of fear and been suicidal since then.

“I want to end my life now cause I have lost the one I cherish so much. I want to do the right thing and turn myself in. I will gladly end it by paying with my life now.

“I have failed myself, I have failed my mom, I have failed my family. Oh lord I can’t believe this. I can’t leave with this guilt, I’m going crazy… I will say nothing but the truth all from the beginning to what brought us here.

“Woman has ended me. | will turn myself in shortly. Woman Woman Woman

“Bye for now till I do so. I deserve death, no running away. | accept whatever fate has for me. I will give this to her family.

“Woman was finally the end of you Benjamin Best. Woman Oh woman.

“I think | got the love I think I deserved. I blame myself. I will give in. I surrender. I will pay for this. I will pay for this.

“My days on earth are numbered. I know I have no much years to live in the evil world anymore so, there is nothing to lie about anymore as there is nothing to lose.

“I have lost it all already and nothing to prove anymore. I will say the truth and only the truth will bring me God’s acceptance in heaven I believe.

“I will live the remaining days I have left being truthful and cooperating with investigation and turning myself in while awaiting death. This is my promise to God now and I will keep to it. I wish I can go back in time.

“I achieved so much at 26 years and I had the world at my palm. I won over 300 million naira on sportybet between last and this year which unbelievable.

“I made move from launchpad launches. I had everything | could wish for. I lived that life. I had the cars, good life and all. I got dual citizenship, what else?

“I was in such a good place. God did everything for me, answered all my prayers. I got everything I ever wished for. God! And it ended like this. Oh my God, how did this happen? I ruined my own life by myself.”

From Augusta’s Instagram page, there were several videos, images of the lovebirds touring the world for luxury vacations and Killaboi splashing expensive gifts on her.
