The National Christian Elders Forum (NCEF) has raised the alarm over high level insecurity in Nigeria.

While condemning lawlessness in the nation, NCEF also appealed to Christians in the country to unite to wade off a common enermy.

The Christian Elders also appealed to General Yakubu Gowon, General Olusegun Obasanjo, and General T.Y Danjuma, as the most prominent Christian leaders in the country’s military history, to put aside personal differences and embark on a joint intervention for Christians and Nigeria.

NCEF expressed its gratitude to General Danjuma for warning Nigerians to take their destinies in their hands; General Obasanjo for drawing the attention of Nigerians to the Fulanization policy of the present administration; and General Gowon for lending his support to the restructuring of Nigeria.

In a statement by its Chairman, Solomon Asemota, SAN, the group wondered why Christians were yet to be properly synergized in recent years, which it said had made it difficult to confront Islamism in unity.

The Christian Elders in its meeting in Lagos decried the unresolved issues in Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) – the umbrella body of Christians in Nigeria, while blaming the church leaders for not resolving the lingering crises with truth and righteousness of God.

NCEF however pointed out that the problem in Nigeria was ideological due to different worldviews between the Islamist Negroid and the Democratic Negro races.

It called for the resolution of the ideological conflict to unite all races and ethnic nationalities in Nigeria.

Besides, NCEF appealed to the traditional rulers of the indigenous tribes to rally round and defend their people and their ancestral lands.

According to it, the real owners of Nigeria are the indigenous ethnic nationalities represented by the traditional rulers and leaders.

“The traditional rulers of the indigenous tribes of the North and South should unite to ward off Islamism – Boko Haram,” it said.

Besides, NCEF commended Yoruba leaders for the model of “Amotekun” in its original conception – State Police and advised other parts of the country to emulate it to enhance security of lives and properties, while accusing foreign nations of masterminding the crisis in Nigeria.

“NCEF is aware that the crisis in Nigeria has its root in foreign nations and the intervention of the international community would be required to resolve it,” it said.

NCEF however enjoined all Christians to support the persecuted Christians in the North and Middle Belt.

“It is both Christian duty and strategic response to reinforce Christians in the North,” it said.

The Christian Elders endorsed the relief support to persecuted Christians under Christian Social Movement of Nigeria (CSMN) tagged, “CRY OF MARTYRS” and sought for more support from Christians for it to do more to alleviate the plight of internally displaced Christians (IDPs) in refugee camps.
