Werder Bremen defender, Felix Agu, will not be part of the Super Eagles squad representing Nigeria in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after sustaining a syndesmosis ligament injury.
He sustained the injury last month during Bremen’s 1-0 victory over St. Pauli.
Agu later underwent surgery and was initially expected to be sidelined for around two months.

However, Werder Bremen’s Head of Professional Football, Peter Niemeyer, has now confirmed the defender will only return to action next year.
“His return will definitely not take place until the new year,” Niemeyer told DeichStube.
Agu previously represented Germany at the youth level before switching his allegiance to Nigeria.
