Imoleayo Balogun brings jazz to Bogobiri

It will be A-LIVE with Imoleayo Balogun on Friday, May 29 at the Bogobiri House in Ikoyi, Lagos State beginning from 8pm.

 

Grounded in jazz, Nigerian/African Melody, rhythm and philosophy, Imoleayo Balogun, who leads four different groups: The Big Band, Zenith Saxophone Quintet, Rhythm Fusion and Yakoyo Dance Band, will bring his magic to the house. What is more, gate is free and there will be happy hour when the bar will sell beer and wine for less.

A versatile musician and entertainer, he is an intelligent jazz saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, composer, arranger, pedagogue and entrepreneur, who currently lectures at the Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON) Diploma Department and is also the Director, Saxophone Music Academy (SAMAC).

 

He’s a musicologist with certifications from London College of Music (LCM) Trinity Guildhall London, Associated Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM), Musical society of Nigeria “MUSON” &University of Education (WINNEBA), Ghana.

His musicianship is steeped in melodic diversities having worked with the Steve Rhodes Orchestra, Muson Symphony Orchestra, Ayetoro, D’banj, Biodun Batik, Alhaji, Kollington Ayinla, Yinka Davies, Roy Olokungboye, Segun Obe, Eljazz, Rhythm Fusion, Cobhams Asuquo, Shuga Band, 5yz Men, Ayo Bankole Jnr. Tunde Jegede and a host of others.

 

He has performed at various Jazz festivals both home and abroad as a back-up artiste and also headlined the Muson Jazz Festival 2014, Lagos Jazz Series, Ohio Jazz Festival (USA) and many other festivals in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya.

 

A-LIVE is organised in conjunction With the French Cultural Centre, Lagos.
