I’ll always remember him for judgment in Ihedioha’s case, Chidoka mourns Justice Nweze

Ex-Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka, has expressed shock over the death of Justice Chima Centus Nweze.
He died on Sunday at the age of 64.
Chidoka, in his tribute, said Justice Chima Centus Nweze was his most respected and cerebral jurist.
“I never met him in person but held him in high esteem. Sadly, many will remember him for the bizarre Sen. Lawan’s judgment. I will remember him for Ihedioha’s judgment and his many cerebral judgments on the bench and his brilliant academic contributions to law.
“His death at this time is quite inauspicious and disturbing. May God forgive his sins and grant him mercy.”

Recall that Nweze was the only Justice of the apex court that gave a dissenting judgment in the case that saw Hope Uzodimma, who finished 4th in the 2019 election, becoming governor of Imo State.
He was however one of the justices that ruled in favour of Ahmad Lawan as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Yobe North Senatorial District in the February 25 general election even when Lawan didn’t take part in the primary election.
It was a split judgment of three-against-two and he delivered the majority judgement.
Nweze was a native of Obollo, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State. He was born on September 25, 1958.
In 2014, former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration approved the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC) to appoint Nweze to the supreme court.
