Nollywood star, Ikechukwu Mitchel Ogbonna, better known as IK Ogbonna, has distanced himself from a romance scam allegation currently trending on various social media platforms.
The actor denied being involved in the fraudulent scheme via a disclaimer post he shared on his Instagram story recently.
On Friday morning, viral reports surfaced online claiming that the 42-year-old thespian is being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in collaboration with the FBI, over a $75k romance scam.
According to the reports, the complaint was made against him by a 49-year-old American woman named Kimberly Ann, who alleged that she had been in an online relationship with him since 2025.

Reacting to the story, IK Ogbonna refuted the allegation, adding that he was never invited by the EFCC as claimed.
He said: “This report is completely false, malicious, and without any factual basis. I don’t support, or participate in, any form of internet fraud, romance scams, or any other fraudulent activity.”
While warning the general public against the imposters, he added: “Unfortunately, this is not the first time my name, image, and identity have been used by unknown individuals operating fake social media accounts to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.”
“I have never authorised anyone to represent me online, solicit money on my behalf, or engage in private conversations pretending to be me.
“Please remain vigilant and be extremely careful of impersonators and catfish accounts that exploit my identity to scam unsuspecting people.”
