Imo State Governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has sympathized with the government and people of Anambra State over the unfortunate petrol tanker fire, which claimed lives and properties in Onitsha on Wednesday last week.

While commiserating with the families of the victims, Ihedioha prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear their losses.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Chibuike Onyeukwu, the governor lamented that given the strategic position of Onitsha as a commercial nerve centre in the Southeast, a tragedy of such magnitude was a huge setback for the people of the zone.

He also pointed out that the affected areas, including the Ochanja and the Menax markets, harbor the means of livelihood of many traders who come from several states of the federation, particularly states in the Southeast.

Ihedioha, while assuring Anambra State Governor, Willy Obiano, and his subjects of the support of the Imo State government to cushion the effects of the incident, Ihedioha was optimistic that the affected people would soon overcome the setback.
