While 6000 km away from Nigeria, the desire to maintain their roots and paying hommage to the ancestors still remain intact during this yam harvest.

Addressing the PanAfrican & French journalists during the occasion, the France general coordinator for Imo State, Hon. Uche Ejim asked Nigerians to use such occasions to unite themselves and to emulate patriotism.

According to him, “by so doing, the new generations in Diaspora will take example of the elders and so as to remain connected and to be proud of where they come from”.

The new yam festival is also a veritable tribune for Nigerians in Diaspora & back home. The Imo State governor was reprensented by Honorable Chinyere Uwandu incharge of the Diaspora & Nepad. Among all, some private meetings were organised by Hon. Uche Ejims for Hon. Uwandu to interact with PanAfrican investors & Imo State citizens in France.

At the festival, Chinyere Uwandu encouraged those in Diaspora to be working hard so as to be investing back home. And that Nigerians should show good examples as leaders of Africa.
