If you want jobs, behave yourselves, Buhari tells youths

-

President Muhammadu Buhari has advised Nigerian youths to behave themselves if they really want jobs.

The President made the comment during an interview with Arise TV in Aso Rock. The interview team was headed by the proprietor of the Television station and publisher of Thisday Newspaper, Nduka Obaigbena.

Buhari said: “Nobody is going to invest in an insecure environment. So, I told them that they should tell the youths that if they want jobs, that they will behave themselves, make sure Nigeria is secure so that people can can come and invest. Nigeria is resurceful. People know it. Look at the 200 buses bought by the former governor of Lagos, some of the mischievous boys went and burnt the vehicles. Who will go and invest his money in an unstable environment? Nobody will. This is just common sense.”

A number of Nigerians say the president was dodging responsibility by blaming them for their lack of jobs.

One @Engr_Series said on Twitter: “Buhari clearly doesn’t understand the issues. He feels jobs are gifts for the youths. He doesn’t see it as key performance of indicator of governance or tool of maintenance of a stable economy. and flow of money. Somebody should remind Mr. President that it is the duty of the government to secure jobs for its people. It is not the other way round. Is it a crime to be a youth in Nigeria? Its high time the government took responsibility.”
