The Class of 1985 of Idogun High School, Idogun, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, has paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, to congratulate him on his appointment by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the President, Mr. Temijana Micheal Olaniyi, expressed gratitude to God and lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for appointing one of their own into the State Executive Council.

He described Ajanaku as “a round peg in a round hole” whose rich journalism background would add value to the administration’s OUR EASE Agenda.

Olaniyi also drew the Commissioner’s attention to the newly constructed 200-seat Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre built by the Idogun Development Association Worldwide for their alma mater.

He explained that the centre, designed to serve schools in the Ireakari axis during WAEC and NECO examinations, requires government support in equipping it with computers and furniture.

Other members of the Class of ’85 took turns to share fond memories of Ajanaku.

Hon. Ade Funmilayo recalled his passion for journalism, always carrying a newspaper even as a teenager, while also excelling as a “fantastic goalkeeper.”

Mr. John Abitoye praised his brilliance in history, noting that his academic excellence inspired many classmates.

Ms. Nike Busari remembered Ajanaku’s neatness, punctuality, and active role in the school’s Press Club, while also serving as Timekeeper Prefect, a position that showcased his discipline and love for order.

In an emotional response, Hon. Ajanaku thanked his classmates for the honour and goodwill after decades apart. He attributed his journey to divine grace, recalling his journalism career, his service to two Lagos State governors, and his current role as Commissioner in Ondo State.

“It is only God that knows the future. I followed my passion, and He has helped me this far,” he said, assuring his former classmates of an open-door policy and readiness to support them where possible.

The visit ended on a warm note with the presentation of a roll-up banner to Hon. Ajanaku as a token of love and a reminder of his roots.
