Arsenal’s former striker, Ian Wright, has traced the Gunner’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City, at the Emirates on Wednesday night to the inexperience of the team.

The north London club with one of the youngest sides in the Premier League took on their more experienced counterpart hoping to go six points clear in the league.

However, it was Pep Guardiola who continued his dominance over Arsenal and took his side back to the summit of the league table on goals difference since November 2022.

Reviewing the encounter, Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, told Premier League Productions that his former club were punished by clinical City after failing to take their chances.

He said: “It’s gonna come down to not taking many chances because you think that City at some point will kick in.

“They’ve got great quality. All the chances we’ve got were very good and you’ve got to take them.

“That’s what I’m sure they’ll learn from this game, they’ve got the chance to score three goals but they missed them and got so much quality.

“They were clinical with their chances. When it comes to this stage of the league, they’re able to navigate this kind of opponent.

“Arsenal didn’t take the chances when they had them because that’s the only way you cause City a problem to make them feel jittery and nervous when you win the ball in the midfield then you can hurt them, but today they didn’t take the chances.

“They are the youngest team in the Premier League and their young age and inexperience may have affected them,” he added.
