I didn’t convert to Islam, says Jim Iyke

Jim Iyke asserted that the viral photos which triggered the claim that he converted to Islam were taken from a movie he’s currently shooting in Ghana

Popular Nigerian actor, Jim Iyke has denied speculation that he has dumped the Christian faith and embraced Islam.

A report claiming the thespian has converted to Islam emerged on social media on Wednesday, June 1,  after some pictures of him with a man dressed in Islamic regalia surfaced. 

Some Muslim faithful after the rumour went viral took to various microblogging platforms to welcome the actor to their faith.

But reacting to the innuendoes, Jim Iyke in a video on his Instagram page dismissed the report.

He went on to state that the viral photos which triggered the rumour were taken from a movie location in Ghana.

He wrote, “Let me quickly address the elephant in the room and go back to what I do best. I feel it necessary to address the rumour making the rounds lately.

”I made a movie in Ghana and it’s a movie about religious fanatic, someone took a picture from that movie and claimed I converted my faith.”

He also said he remains a Christian and has no plan of converting to Islam, saying he does not understand the motive behind the falsehood. 

”I respect all religions and I have no intention of ever converting my faith. I’m totally committed to my faith. I don’t understand why someone will do these but there is a certain line that you not be crossed,” Jim Ikye added.
