The National President of NUPENG, Williams Akporeha, who confirmed the suspension of the action on Tuesday, disclosed that Dangote refinery team led by Sayyu Dantata, agreed to unionise its drivers.
The agreement was reached at the headquarters of the Department of State Services, DSS in Abuja.
“We have suspended the strike. The Dangote refinery has agreed to unionise its drivers. We signed an agreement,” Akporeha reportedly said.
Petroleum tanker drivers on Monday embarked on strike following the crisis between them and the Dangote refinery as a result of the unionisation of tanker drivers.
Not even an appeal by the Federal Government that they shelve the plan, made the drivers to retrace their step. While the strike lasted, Nigerians expressed fears of imminent fuel scarcity as many filling stations stopped dispensing products.
