How bomb blast wreaked havoc in Ondo community

There was panic in Akure, the Ondo State capital, early Saturday morning as explosive devices detonated, leaving no fewer than 100 houses destroyed

 It was learnt that a truck owned by a quarry company carrying explosives exploded at Ilu-Abo in Akure, one kilometer from Akure Airport.

TheNiche gathered that the truck, which was heading for Edo State, and was accompanied by police escorts destroyed over hundren houses.

A church building and a private school were among the properties affected by explosion.

It was gathered that the bombs exploded around 1am.

The explosion created a big ditch on the Akure/Owo/Benin Expressway and caused a huge traffic snarl on the ever busy road

The blast that caused apprehension among most residents of Akure, Obaile, Eleyowo, Iluabo, Osi and environs, destroyed a popular church beside the road called “Possibility Church”, where some people were said to have been injured.

“Some people are on danger list now, the sound (of the blast) woke everybody living in the area up around 1am today. God should just have mercy o.” a resident in the area said.
