The Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello, has revealed that himself and his group of “Barrack Boys” convinced President Muhammadu Buhari to seek re-election in 2019.

The governor, who had no project to showcase as achievement in the past three years of his leadership, said that he was still striving to meet the Change his subjects were yearning for.

During a Media parley at the Government House, Minna, Governor Bello said that he was supporting Buhari because the president was passionate about Nigeria.

His words:

“President Muhammadu Buhari is on a different level. I know he is a very shy person and doesn’t talk much. I know he meant well for Nigeria and Nigerians.”

Bello said that he celebrates President Buhari because of semblances including sharing same birth day.

“I am one of the governors that convinced him to run for 2019 Presidency because I strongly believe he is on the right path and I want everyone to vote for him.

“I met Buhari as early as 1973 as a little barrack boy whom we all saw as a father. Some of us barrack boys have grown and still believe in him and what he has to offer this country today,” Sani-Bello said.

Besides, the governor said that he was yet to meet his expectations and that of his subjects in the past three years.

“I don’t feel mission accomplished. We have not arrived where we wanted to be, we are just about 20%. I cannot tell you that we have been able to meet all their needs.

“I will seek for second term. It is not the term that matters but the lives you have made”, Bello said, as he expressed regrets that many Nigerlites misunderstood what CHANGE, the party’s slogan that brought it into power is meant to the APC led administration.

According to Bello, “We will go for re-election and by the grace of God we will win. What we have planted today has a gestation period and that is what we are appealing to Nigerlites, including you (journalists) for support. Vote for us next year”.
