Heartland begs for patience, steadfastness

Officials of Heartland FC of Owerri have appealed to their fans and supporters to be patient and remain steadfast with the team, despite the seeming poor start in the current league season.

The former FA Cup back-to- back champions have drawn two home games against Dolphins FC and Sharks FC, both of Port Harcourt, and lost one away to Crown FC of Ogbomoso in the three-week-old league season, leaving their supporters worried and unhappy.

In a statement released in Owerri, the club’s media officer, Cajetan Nkwopara, stated that the result posted by the team so far fall short of expectation, and that the management was working hard to address the situation.

“We’ll like to apologise to our fans and all those who have faith in this team for the recent performances which we acknowledge to be disappointing, considering our pedigree.

“We understand the frustrations and worries being felt by everyone on our side and we are doing everything possible to arrest the situation,” he said.

According to Nkwopara, the management is rebuilding a new team which requires some period of blending, and suggested that since the league was just starting, the new team could mature in good time to challenge for the title before the end of the season.

“For now, we are through with the experiments. The management has instructed the technical crew to focus on correcting those areas of lapses witnessed in the squad.

“What this means is that those players who have not justified opportunities given to them could have their positions in the team under threat.

“Yet, we need the patience and steadfast love of our supporters to achieve any meaningful target this season. That is the reason we are asking everybody to remain calm.
