Manchester City dismantled a toothless Liverpool side on Saturday afternoon, securing a dominant 4-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium.

City manager Pep Guardiola was forced to watch the intriguing encounter from the stands as he served the second game of a touchline ban.

Erling Haaland struck twice late in the first half, first slotting home a penalty before nodding a precise cross into the bottom corner.

After the interval, Antoine Semenyo added a third with a delicate chip, before Haaland rattled in his hat-trick with a fierce strike that went in off the underside of the crossbar.

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah saw a penalty saved by James Trafford on what proved to be a miserable day for Arne Slot’s side.

With this emphatic victory, Manchester City booked a record-extending eighth consecutive FA Cup semi-final appearance.

Meanwhile, the result will heap further pressure on Liverpool boss Arne Slot, whose side arguably now has only the UEFA Champions League left to contest.
