Guardiola assures De Bruyne is fit to face Real Madrid

Guardiola confirmed that Kelvin De Bruyne trained ahead of Manchester City’s league game against Leeds United on Saturday

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has declared Belgium midfielder, Kevin de Bruyne fit ahead of the Citizens’ Champions League semi-final first leg tie against Real Madrid on Tuesday, May 9 at Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spanish tactician made this known while giving injury update ahead of Man City’s league encounter with Leeds United on Saturday.

According to Guardiola, De Bruyne will be part of the squad that will face Leeds, meaning he is expected to be available against Real Madrid.

De Bruyne missed Man City’s last two games against Fulham and West Ham United due to a bruised foot.

There have been worries about De Bruyne missing the clash against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Guardiola while speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the Leeds clash said: “He trained yesterday, trained good. Today we train, and we decide after training.

“Losing or missing just one week or ten days in this stage of the season is not a problem. The same happened with Nathan (Ake). If he’s fit, he can play.”

De Bruyne has been in sparkling form this season, scoring nine goals and providing an astounding 27 assists in 42 matches across competitions for Man City.
