Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has named Portuguese midfielder, Bernardo Silva as the new captain of the English Premier League ( EPL) outfit.
According to The Daily Mail, the Spanish tactician made the decision personally and did not put it to a team vote.

Silva takes over from Kevin De Bruyne who left the Etihad for Italian Serie A club, Napoli, following the expiration of his contract.
Guardiola in addition to this, also appointed Ruben Dias, Rodri and Erling Haaland as the team’s vice-captains ahead of next season.

With his current contract running out next summer, Silva could end up wearing the skipper’s armband for only one season.
Although he is yet to sign a new deal with City, Silva has rejected several offers to leave in recent transfer windows.
Saudi Arabian clubs are keen on signing the Portugal playmaker, as well as his former club Benfica.
Meanwhile, EPL management has announced that the 2025-26 league season will commence on Friday, August 15, with Liverpool kicking off their title defence against Bournemouth at Anfield.
Man City will also hope to bounce back from a rare trophyless season with a strong start against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Saturday, August 16.
