Group backs Olabimtan for Ondo APC chairman

The Ondo State Patriotic Movement for Democracy has openly declared its unwavering support for Rt. Hon. Victor Adekanye Olabimtan to become the next chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State.
In a communique issued and signed by the Conveners and Secretary General of the group, Hon. Ariyo Arije, Hon Alabi Julius respectively, Princess Akinrimade Patience Àdùnní (Women Coordinator) after its enlarged meeting in Akure, described Olabimtan as a political figure whose experience, maturity, and loyalty to the party stand him out as the most qualified person to lead the APC at this crucial time.
The movement noted that the party requires a tested leader who can unify stakeholders across all tendencies and ensure the APC remains the dominant political platform in the state.
According to the statement, Olabimtan, a former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, has consistently demonstrated competence, courage, and commitment to democratic ideals.
Highlighting his political track record, the group pointed out that Olabimtan’s service as a federal lawmaker, public administrator, and party leader has prepared him adequately for the task of piloting the affairs of the APC. His wide network of supporters, both at the grassroots and among the political elite, was also cited as a strong asset for the party.
The Ondo Patriotic Movement further emphasized that the APC in Ondo State must be led by someone who understands the dynamics of local politics, commands respect across party lines, and has the temperament to reconcile aggrieved members. In its view, Olabimtan perfectly fits this profile.
They stated that the endorsement was borne out of collective conviction. “Our support for Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan is not just about politics, but about the future of our great party in Ondo State. We believe he has the vision, experience, and character to consolidate on the gains of the party and lead it to greater heights,” he said.
The group therefore appealed to all APC stakeholders, elders, and loyal members across the 18 local government areas of the state to rally behind Olabimtan’s aspiration, noting that unity and cohesion under his leadership will guarantee the party’s continued success.
