Gov Sule also noted that although Al-Makura has a preferred choice for the next governor of Nasarawa State, he has his own preferred successor.

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has stated that his predecessor, Senator Umaru Al-Makura, is not his political godfather and did not “make” him governor.
He made this known recently during an appearance as a guest on the Channels Television programme, Sunday Politics.
While discussing his relationship with the former governor, Sule admitted that Al-Makura mentored him in politics.
However, he noted that although Al-Makura has someone he would like to see become the next governor of the state, he also has his own preferred successor.

Speaking during the interview, Gov Sule said: “Al-Makura didn’t bring me into office. He supported me when I was coming into office. He didn’t pick me from the dustbin.
“He picked me as a Group Managing Director of a quoted company. He is not my godfather; he mentored me into politics.
“The truth of the matter is that Senator Al-Makura, as an individual, had a preferred aspirant, and he has the right to have one.
“And his preferred aspirant may not be my preferred aspirant, because they come from two different zones. I strongly believed then, I believe now, and I will believe tomorrow that it would not be fair to go back to his [zone] which has just finished 12 years. That’s my justification,” the governor said.
