Good governance as Kogi agenda: Ododo/Oyibo in sweet aura of leadership continuity
By Isah Jibrin Egbolo
According to His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo: “When you don’t do what you ought to do for your people at the right time, you struggle unnecessarily to get it done when it is too late.“
In Nigeria, we react before we listen and we conclude before we understand. Opposition is good, but it often induces poor democracy. Opposition parties frequently fail because they fragment into competing groups, adopt misplaced priorities, promote unenlightened policies, and lack clear ideologies or articulated desires. Too often, opposition leaders practice poor democracy within their own organizations due to a lack of internal democracy.
Opposition parties are plagued by fragmentation, outsized egos, and an ill-fated atmosphere of political dichotomy. Many exist solely for money and power imbalances, running their parties like dictatorships amid specters of infighting and internal disputes.
As Kogi gradually approaches the 2027 election, recent political events continue to reinforce and rejig confidence in the leadership of His Excellency Ahmed Usman Ododo. His cogent decision to reaffirm his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu Oyibo, will be widely accepted by supporters across political networks, including the electorate, as a clear demonstration of continuity, stability, and loyalty born from strategic alliance.

Such a decision sends a clear signal that his administration remains focused on consistency and consolidating the delivery of the people’s mandate. The Ododo/Oyibo leadership ticket and its promise of continuity have continued to generate intense support and positive debate through the prism of political strategy, rather than the political cliché of abruptly changing capable leaders.
The Ododo/Oyibo joint ticket is adjudged by competence, performance, mass acceptance, integrity, commitment to state development, and economic sustainability. Many recalcitrant opposition figures were initially skeptical about the Ododo/Oyibo ticket, but they are now optimistic that Ododo/Oyibo leadership and continuity is the way forward for good governance.

Political supporters of Ododo/Oyibo — including Honourable Eunice Solidarity Network, Kogi East Political Network, Rivers State Ododo/Oyibo group, and many more — maintain that many opposition members who had become despairing after years of political disappointment are gradually regaining confidence in Ododo/Oyibo leadership and administration.
The Ododo/Oyibo leadership is fighting to end poverty — be it generational, relative, absolute, or situational. They affirm that poverty leads to disbelief. They are achieving leadership successes through economic recovery, institutional reforms, and infrastructural development, while totally rejecting ethnic agenda as a pathway to state growth.
Ododo/Oyibo have made God their standard, leading to their collective humility. That explains why God continues to delight and surprise them with the standard testimony of electoral victory.
Election is never won through propaganda, rhetorical insinuations, or political speculation, but through good leadership, vision, and the confidence of the electorate. Ododo/Oyibo remain the candidates to beat until a stronger and more convincing alternative emerges — which I personally doubt.
Ododo/Oyibo are well positioned for reelection in 2027 because of their sense of belonging and articulation of the people’s desires.
