The head coach of the France U-17 Women’s team, Mickael Ferreira, has hailed the performance of Nigeria’s Flamingos despite beating them in a 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup group game played on Wednesday night.

Les Bluettes narrowly defeated Bankole Olowookere’s side 1-0 in an entertaining encounter, with Maissa Fathallah’s 81st-minute strike being the difference.

Speaking after the match, Ferreira said they anticipated a difficult game, going on to describe the Nigerian team as committed, united, and brave.

“We knew it was going to be a tough match. This Nigerian team is very committed, very united, very brave,” Ferreira told FIFA.com.

With the victory in their second game, France has advanced to the knockout round of the tournament.

Nigeria, on the other hand, must beat Samoa in their final group game to stand a chance of progressing past the group stage.
