Former comptroller, Edike advocates synergy among Maritime agencies for seamless Port Operations

Edike says government should look inward and engage a seasoned maritime professional to run the affairs of the council

Chairles Edike , former Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) of the Nigeria Customs Service (rtd), said only seamless synergy among agencies of government in the Maritime sector can guarantee efficiency.

According to him, nothing can be achieved if agencies like NPA, NSC, NIMASA etc keep working at crossroads making their own rules.

The Chairman of the DMP event in Apapa organised by Data Resources Limited however appealed to the federal government to ensure the sustainability of the Nigerian Port Consultative Council (NPCC).


Edike a former Area Controller of PTML said some of the challenges in the sector was lack of collaboration which is necessary.

The retired seasoned officer reiterated that the government should look inward and engage a seasoned maritime professional to run the affairs of the council noting that NPCC has what it takes to proffer solutions to most of challenges befalling the port industry.


On her part, Mrs Olotu who represented the NPA managing director, Mohammed Koko-Bello, also aligned with Edike insisting on proper Synergy in the Maritime sector among other things.
