Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has attributed Lamine Yamal’s frustrated reaction following his side’s win over Atletico Madrid on Saturday to the winger’s inability to find the back of the net.

Flick shared these insights during the post-match briefing after the Blaugrana secured a 2-1 victory over their hosts in the league encounter.

Goals from Marcus Rashford and Robert Lewandowski ensured Barcelona walked away with all three points at the Metropolitano Stadium.

Despite the win, cameras captured Yamal looking visibly angry after the final whistle. He appeared to brush past Flick, who was seen attempting to calm the Spanish international down.

Speaking on the 18-year-old’s demeanor, Flick explained that the player was simply disappointed with his individual performance.

The former Bayern Munich coach noted that Yamal gave his all against Atletico but was frustrated that his efforts didn’t result in a goal.

“Lamine Yamal was a little bit angry because he was trying everything and he didn’t score.” Flick said. “It’s an emotional game, it’s normal. He’s back in the dressing room now, and he’s fine.”

Following this domestic victory, Barcelona will shift their focus back to the continental stage as they prepare to face Atletico Madrid again on Wednesday for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash.
