Fresh FM Nigeria has confirmed a late-night fire that ravaged its corporate headquarters located at Challenge, Ibadan, on Friday.
In a statement issued by Samson Akindele, Group Head of Corporate Affairs for Fresh FM Nigeria and Yinka Ayefele Limited, the media house revealed that the blaze destroyed vital infrastructure, including the studios of Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM.
The fire, according to the statement, spread beyond the studios to other critical areas such as the newsroom, transmitter/server room, and adjoining offices, resulting in massive losses.
Attempts by staff members to extinguish the flames with in-house equipment were unsuccessful due to the intensity of the inferno, until professional firefighters arrived to contain the situation.
“We can’t immediately quantify the extent of the damage caused by the devastating inferno, the cause of which is also yet to be ascertained presently,” Akindele said.
The management expressed gratitude to nearby residents, passersby, and officials of the Oyo State Fire Service who assisted in bringing the fire under control.
“We heartily appreciate everyone good-spirited Nigerians who joined us in fighting the inferno,” the station added.
As of the time of reporting, no casualties have been recorded, while investigations into the cause of the incident are still ongoing.
