In a statement on social media, Agbaje said the passion his supporters brought to the democratic process in the state has not been in vain.

According to him, Lagos is better for it because of the amount of enthusiasm shown by them.

“Following INECs announcement of the results of the gubernatorial elections that took place in Lagos over the weekend, March 9, 2019, I want to take this opportunity to thank my supporters and everyone who invested their time, resources and energy to support our cause. To those who stood by our campaign every step of the way, I want to thank you. The passion that you brought into this democratic process and your participation have not been in vain. Because you have made your voices heard in this election, in the final analysis, win or lose, our dear state will be the better for it,” Agbaje said.

He hinted on contesting again and promised to stand up for the people and hold the government accountable.

He said the fight to free Lagos from what he calls overlords continues saying it is not a goodbye but‘a see you later because the work goes on.’

“The elections might be over but the fight for a free Lagos must continue to ensure that governance improves and that government continues to work for interests of ordinary men and women, not just a few overlords. We must continue to hold our leaders accountable by choosing, on our end to be, first, informed about the issues and, second, to participate at all levels. This is the only way we can build on the gains of our young democracy,” he said.
