He said: “Yes, we thank God for the successful organisation of the 3×3 Tour, the first major event of the new board, and I can rightful tell you that the next event of the zone will be the secondary schools championship.

“But first, we need to get the confirmation of participating countries before we start to put things in place, as we plan to hold the event in October this year.

“Already, Benin Republic and Togo have confirmed their readiness to participate in the championship, and if at the end of the day only the two countries show interest, then we will have a triangular event for the championship as they would be joined by host, Nigeria.

“On the other hand, if another country joins Benin Republic, Togo and Nigeria, then we will have a quadrangular event.

“But, definitely, the championship must hold this year, as we’ve also lined up other major championships.”

Ahmedu, the proprietor of Dodan Warriors Basketball Club of Lagos, also informed that the board is in talks with management of Nestle Nigeria for the sponsorship of the secondary schools championship.
